Job Description

While this position is hybrid, there will still be a regular need to travel to our corporate office in downtown Indianapolis (address is 1635 W. Michigan St. Indianapolis, IN 46222) and to other sites as needed so candidates will need to live close to or around the Indianapolis/Marion County area. The general range for this position is $44-50K and includes full benefits (below):

The Learning and Development Specialist focuses on enhancing our employees' knowledge and skills by creating and delivering effective learning experiences. The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for managing our Learning Management System (LMS), designing digital and blended courses, and facilitating learning content. The ideal candidate will have a passion for continuous learning and a strong commitment to developing others.  This position will also assist the Learning & Development Manager in meeting the team goals aligned with the organization’s Strategic Plan. 

Example Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of our Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Ensure the LMS is up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with organizational needs.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the LMS and provide user support as needed in partnership with the HRIS team.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and objectives.

  • Act as a consultant to present learning solutions in areas such as course outline, delivery, assessments, and learning approaches using adult learning principles

  • Design and develop digital and blended courses, including curriculum, materials, and assessments.

  • Utilize instructional design and adult learning best practices to create engaging and effective learning experiences.

  • Ensure that courses are accessible and inclusive for all learners.

  • Deliver blended learning content through various modalities, such as in-person workshops, webinars, and virtual sessions.

  • Foster an interactive and engaging learning environment.

  • Facilitate discussions, activities, and assessments to enhance comprehension and retention.

  • Collect and analyze feedback to continuously improve course delivery.

  • Stay up to date on learning trends, tools, and ideas.

  • Technology Knowledge - Strong knowledge of Learning Management Systems, specifically Workday Learning, and the ability to manage and troubleshoot system issues.

  • Content Development - Experience in developing digital and blended learning content, including eLearning modules, videos, and interactive materials.

  • Training Facilitation - Effective facilitation skills to engage learners, encourage participation, and create an inclusive learning environment. Instructs, coaches, and mentors participants using appropriate training methodologies and motivational techniques to improve performance after the completion of the learning program. 

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging Awareness - Demonstrates awareness of others' social identities (race, gender, disability status, etc.) in the workplace and promotes an inclusive environment in which concerns are addressed effectively.  Embraces a willingness to examine one’s own biases, assumptions, and attitudes and engages in ongoing self-reflection to advance knowledge in this space.  Effectively creates safety to help others learn and grow in this area.

  • Program Management (Training) - Is highly skilled at developing, implementing, organizing, monitoring, evaluating, and improving both virtual and in-person training programs, including writing policies and procedures, mapped to business goals that improve organizational performance.  Is highly creative and innovative at creating training systems that build capacity in employees to ensure compliance and effectiveness.  Has documented success in interpreting information and making necessary adjustments to achieve program outcomes/metrics. 

  • Business Acumen - Fosters a deep and applicable knowledge of the system of how the organization achieves its business goals.                   

Other Requirements 

  • Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. Must have a valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.
