Responsibilities
    BASIC FUNCTION: Shipping Supervisor primary responsibility is to ensure accuracy of internal and domestic shipments. Ensure shipments meet and or exceed customer requirements while maintaining a safe work environment. Provide direction for a team of associates through functional expertise and administration of those responsibilities.

  1. PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure shipments arrives on time within budget
  • Monitor and oversee outgoing and incoming shipments verifying items are correct and in good condition.
  • Responsible for inspecting every aspect of the loading/unloading operation meeting shipping specifications and ensure proper use of warehouse space.
  • Review all shipping documentation ensuring correct shipping methods are used.
  • Conduct regular monthly and yearly inventory reconciliation
  • Responsible for billing activates
  • Follow all applicable safety/housekeeping guidelines.
  • Read and follow all Standard Operating Procedures to meet or exceed the Quality Systems Regulation (QSR).
  • Responsible for departmental safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • May be responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Maintain employee time and production records.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Enforce safety and work policies.
  • Responsible for selection, training, assignment, discipline, review, and appraisal of employees.
  • May work on special projects/assignments upon request.
  • Must be flexible to work hours and/or shifts

  1. REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:

EDUCATION: Requires a minimum of High School diploma or GED. Associate degree preferred or Minimum 2 yrs. experience in a shipping warehouse environment. 3 to 5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity. Requires effective interpersonal skills and behaviors conducive to a team-oriented environment. Requires proficiency in the use of PC's and applications related to the position. Requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend (in English) simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Documents may include: Bill of ladings, sales orders, deliveries, freight bills, Safety Data Sheets, SOP's, work instructions, manuals, policies and procedures, etc. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform simple math equations figuring board footage of foam and cube footage of trailers.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Must have proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office). Must be able to multitask.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to solve problems in a practical manner.

  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position supervises shipping and receiving department and may fill in throughout the production area as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The Associate must frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 140 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
