Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Machinist in the Grand Prairie, TX Converting plant. The right applicant has a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. He/she is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. This position requires a working knowledge of mechanical systems including gear boxes, couplings, bearings, shop equipment, welding, compressors, chillers, blowers, conveyor systems and piping configuration.
***We are currently offering a 3,000 Sign On Bonus for this position***
Key Responsibilities:
Arc, TIG and MIG welding process
Operate a manual mill (Bridgeport) and lathes (Summit 14, FAT Tur 560, Rockland and Kingston)
Rubber roll grinding
Measure dimensions within tolerances for the fabrication of machine parts and equipment specifications
Create and modify drawings for fabrication
Thread milling, right and left, standard and metric
Welding and turning down journals for roller repair
Promote Maintenance and Total Plant Safety
LOTO expert knowledge and adherence to procedures
Support Printpack Performance System (PPS)
Implement preventive maintenance programs for the entire plant, including scheduling estimates, evaluation of PM standards, & completion rate
Interact with all departments to accomplish maintenance tasks
Maintain documentation necessary for operations including work orders, requisitions, activity reports, daily log book, and employee records
Work with & provide guidance to outside vendors and contractors
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Familiarity with operating a manual mill and lathe
Familiarity with machine and equipment alignment
Familiarity with different metal and steel types and their compatibility in different applications of machining
Familiarity with mechanical systems and mechanical components including but not limited to bearings, journals, flange, bolts, etc.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics
